Fear and loathing in Las Vegas

A horrible mess of a movie, without shape, trajectory or purpose — a one-joke movie, if it had one joke. Hunter S. Thompson's guerrilla approach to reporting, which consisted of getting stoned out of his mind, hurling himself at a story, and recording it in a frenzied hyperbole. The movie perfectly represents a "nothing matters" type of feeling and it really gets into you, if you were once familiar with this type of behaviour.

The Young Pope

One of the most thought-provoking series that I have ever seen. Paolo Sorrentino's perspective is amazing. Apart from the fact that you can go through very divisive feelings from the deepest to the highest, the story shows a very new vision of how the church works and could work.

The Wire

Some people always look for the experience of reading - even when they are watching a TV series. If you are this kind of weirdo too, The Wire is your TV show: it's like a huge, profound novel on the screen. Although The Wire's genre is a crime, I believe it’s much more than that. If someone, fifty to a hundred years from now wants to know what America was really like at the beginning of the 21st century, The Wire will stand as a valid, though fictional historical document of what was actually happening in that country at that time. So I highly recommend it, if you have weeks for binge-watching. :)

Broken flowers

First of all, Bill Murray is one of my favourite actors. I like his character, his face, especially his look. The protagonist receives an anonymous letter from a former girlfriend, claiming he has a child. Therefore, Dan decides to find out the truth and starts visiting former girlfriends, who may have been the writer of the letter. The music of the film is brilliant and the director is Jim Jarmusch, who is very talented. I can highly recommend this film. And, of course, there’s no lack of ironic moments.

The Expanse (S01)

I am a big fan of sci-fi and sometimes I feel there are just not enough sci-fi movies to watch. I was very happy to bump into a sci-fi series that ended up giving a great alternative to weekly cinema visits. The story itself is dark, exciting, and has a lot to tell about social systems and how the urge for power can build a dystopia (Earth and Moon are the great powers, while Belters provide their life supplies working and living in unacceptable conditions - sounds familiar, doesn't it?!). Also, the atmosphere reminds me of my all-time favorites, the Alien movies, with its dirtiness and rawness, making me lost after the first episode.

An exceptional reality show, that gives you an inside look at the world of drag. Mama Ru always delivers some A-level entertainment! Drag mocks our culture, and this show can cheer me up on any rainy day. But beyond that, it is an important platform that serves as a mainstream podium for all kinds of minorities, promotes acceptance and self-love. I'm Team Sharon Needles forever! Rupaul's Drag Race is now on its 10th season, and if you are intrigued, it's worth to start watching from the 2nd. Start your engines!

Imagine yourself living without internet. Challenging, eh? OK, now ditch electricity, too. What a nightmare! Do you think you'd survive in such a world? Well, these folks did, and they go through hell and high water over the decades covered by this two-season show. Even though the series got cancelled early, don't worry, you won't be left hanging - the staff finished off the story with a unique twist: a four-episode digital comic book! Enjoy rethinking your entire world as the characters evolve through the challenge, and try not to freak out too much.

Arrogant, self-centered movie director Guido Contini struggles to find harmony in his professional and personal lives, as he engages in dramatic relationships with his wife, his mistress, his muse, his agent, and his mother. Sounds like a hot mess… but surely is a mess of amazing music and Oscar-worthy material with the cast including Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Marion Cottilard, Judie Dench, Sophia Loren and Kate Hudson.

A light comedy about a senior intern. As a CEO, I'm dreaming of an intern like Robert DeNiro in this film. We can discover a startup founder's challenges sprung by growth, however, the senior intern can help with his experience. The huge question is, does the startup need a new CEO or not?

The Pursuit of Happiness

If you’re struggling with finding motivation in your life, then this is the number one movie you should watch. Will Smith is amazing in this film, which is based on a true story. Chris Gardner (the main character) is a bright and talented, but marginally employed salesman. Gardner and his five-year-old son have to battle with a lot of difficulties, but what will happen in the end? A very heartwarming and inspirational tale about a father, who does everything to produce a financially stable life for his one and only beloved son.

Solaris

I am pretty much into sci-fi TV shows and movies, but this one is one of my all-time favs. The movie is the adaptation of Stanislaw Lem's novel and the story is about a space station orbiting around the remote planet called Solaris. Somehow the planet interferes with memories of the scientists working there, so all kinds of weird things start to happen and the characters are forced to make several moral and conflicting decisions. The whole atmosphere is catchy, no matter if you watch the original movie made by Andrei Tarkovsky or the remake by Steven Soderbergh.
